K31 Tall Fescue better known as Kentucky 31 was introduced into the United States from Europe in the early 1800's. Kentucky 31 Tall Fescue grass thus became established in lawns across North America. Kentucky 31 is one of the older proven turf grasses that can be used anywhere. It is an economical, wear resistant, easy to establish Tall Fescue Grass. Kentucky 31 has more heat tolerance than other Tall Fescue grass. The best time to plant Kentucky 31 is early Spring or early Fall.
How to Grow a Beautiful Lawn
Prep: New Grass / Bare Spots: Before you seed, mow existing grass as tight as possible. Use a rake to eliminate debris and to loosen soil surface (½’’ to 2’’ deep).
Plant: Evenly spread the seed using a powered seeder or hand spreader according to the spreader settings. For added growth, apply fertilizer. Gently rake the soil to incorporate seed, (seed-to-soil contact is key). 10lbs covers approximately 800 sq. ft. for a new lawn and 2,000 sq. ft. for over-seeding.
Water: Keep the soil wet for the seed to germinate. Continue watering until grass reaches 3-4’’ tall. ENJOY!
Pro Tips: Wait to mow until grass is 3-4’’ tall. Reseed thin areas as needed. This will help to ensure a healthy lawn as it matures.
